Plan Before You Begin

Before installing the new Template Pack, we recommend that you develop a plan for bringing your documentation up to the ISO 9001:2008 revision of the standard (click here to see a presentation about "Moving to ISO 9001:2008"). This involves three steps:
  1. Compare – Compare the 2008 revision to the 2000 revision and understand the differences.
  2. Assess – Review your documentation against the new revision of the standard, and identify all the changes that will need to be made.
  3. Revise – Update your current ISO documentation by referencing the new standard, and making the changes identified in your assessment.
We have provided tools to help you with each of these steps. The ISO Gap Analysis Pack will provide you with the following:
  • ISO 9001:2008 Comparative Matrix – Provides element by element analysis of the difference between the 2008 and 2000 revisions of the standard.
  • Shall Statement Coverage Matrix – Identifies the Policy, Procedures and Audit Checklist content in the Template Pack that provide support for support each clause in the standard.
  • ISO 9001:2008 Conformance Desk Audit Checklist – Ready for use with Audit Manager, this checklist leads you through a review of your current documentation and identifies the most likely areas of change in your ISO documentation.
  • ISO 9001:2008 Document Revision Planning Worksheet – Provides you with a quick estimate of the work that will be required to bring your documentation up to the new revision of the standard, by taking the results of your Desk Audit and the summarizing document level tasks that we have identified.
  • Updating management system documents to an evolving standard - A process overview –A Suite 2000 Procedure document that explains the process for updating your 2000 revision level documents to the 2008 revision.
  • Updating Authoring Tool documents for evolving standards – A Suite 2000 work instruction that provides step by step instructions for updating all of your Suite 2000 ISO documentation.

Not Enough Time?

If you have a pending audit, and are concerned that you don’t have enough time to complete all the work described above, we have provided a “Provisionary Pack” which gives you instructions on how to modify your current documentation without installing the ISO 9001:2008 template pack. This approach MAY allow you to satisfy the criteria of your ISO 9001:2008 audit, but you will need to consult your auditor to verify.
