Frequently Asked Questions - V3.00

Operating System Support

Can I upgrade my Windows XP or 2000 workstation to Vista, using the “In place installation” or "Clean Installation”, and still use Suite 2000?
This type of system upgrade is not supported. Call Powerway Technical Support for more information about this procedure.

What version of Suite 2000 do I have to be on to install this upgrade?
CD – V1.03 or greater or Desktop V5.04 or greater

Can I install a new version of Suite 2000 V3.00 on a Windows 2000 workstation?
No. You can only upgrade an existing Suite installation on a Windows 2000 workstation. We recommend moving to a newer windows version as soon as possible.

Why aren’t my help files working now that I am on Vista or Windows Server 2008?
Vista and Windows Server 2008 do not support the help file format is used in Suite 2000, V3.00. Microsoft has posted on their web site a Knowledge Base article download that will allow Vista or Windows Server 2008 to read our help files. I cannot open Help files that require the Windows Help (WinHlp32.exe) program.

Why can’t my Terminal Server users launch Desktop after I installed V3.00?
After the server administrator has upgraded the Terminal Server Desktop using TSSetup, each Terminal Server user will need to run the TSUserSetup to complete the upgrade. Desktop will not launch for a user until this is done. This is not normally needed but is required for this upgrade. For this upgrade TSUserSetup can be run un-attended and requires no command line parameters.

Do my users have to be Windows Administrators on their workstation to run Suite 2000?
Suite 2000 no longer requires users to be Windows administrators to use the software. New installs will automatically get this new benefit. In the Group Edition is a utility provided in the WSSetup\Remap directory that will do a conversion for existing installations to enable this support. If existing personal installs wish to convert they should contact Powerway Support for instructions. Terminal Services has never required a user be a Windows administrator to do a TSUserSetup or use the software. In all cases we still require a Windows administrator to install the software.

ISO 9001:2008 Template Pack

How is this process different from the conversion to ISO 9001:2000?
The changes were so extensive between ISO 9001:1994 and ISO 9001:2000 that many customers chose to rewrite most of their documentation. With this revision to the standard, the changes are minor and we believe most customers will want to start with their current documents and make minor modifications.

Is there an automated utility to convert documents to the new revision of the standard?
No. There are many questions that need to be answered before you begin updating your documents. That is why we are providing the Gap Assessment pack to help you determine what modifications need to be made to your documentation.

How do I order the new Template pack?
If you are current on maintenance for the ISO 9001:2000 Template Pack, then you get the ISO 9001:2008 Template pack along with your Suite 2000 V3.00 upgrade.

Can I install the Template Pack with older versions of Suite 2000?
No. However, you can use the Provisionary and Gap Analysis Packs with previous versions of Suite 2000 and prepare for your conversion before installing the Suite 2000 v3.00 upgrade.

Do I need the new version of the Template Pack to pass an ISO 9001:2008 audit?
Not necessarily. It depends upon your auditor and/or your current Quality Management Policies. You may be able to make slight modifications to your existing documentation and successfully pass an ISO 9001:2008 audit. We do not recommend this approach however, and would encourage you to go through the Gap Assessment and make the appropriate changes to your documentation and processes.

Do I need to install the ISO 9001:2008 Template pack to use the Provisionary Pack or the Gap Analysis Pack?
No, but you must have the ISO 9001:2000 Template Pack installed.

What is the difference between the 3 Policy Manual Templates (MSPM - 104H, MSPM - 104D, MSPM - 104C)?
The Policy Writer creates a Sub-Section in the Requirements Section of the Policy Manual for each Requirements Clause (clause found in sections 4-8) of the ISO 9001 Standard. There are three possible levels of detail that you can select for the Requirements Section.
  • Clause Level (Template MSPM-104C) - Creates 5 Sub-Sections, one for each of the Requirements Sections of the Standard (e.g. 4,5,6,7,8). This is new for the 2008 template pack.
  • High Level (Template MSPM-104H) - Creates a Sub-Section for each of the Requirement Clauses listed in the table of contents of the Standard (e.g. 4, 4.1, 4,2, 5, 5.1, 5.2, etc.). This is the level of detail that was supplied with the ISO 9001:2000 standard.
  • Detail Level (Template MSPM-104D) - Creates a Sub-Section for each of the Requirement Clauses in the Standard (e.g. 8, 8.1, 8.2, 8.2.1, 8.2.2, etc.). This is new for the 2008 template pack.
