From: Brad Anderson, Powerway
The pending release of an updated version of the popular ISO 9001 International Standard is expected in late October to early November, 2008. Powerway has obtained a copy of the Draft International Standard (DIS) and reviewed the content for changes and other potential issues. The Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) is currently out for ballot to the ISO member nations.
Overall, it would appear that this is a minor revision to the standard, with it being almost more of a clarification than a new revision as a couple of headers have changed, a few requirements have changed position within their section and some flexibility has been incorporated to allow organizations more ways to try to wiggle out of requirements for whatever reason. Powerway does plan to release a content-rich Template Pack addressing this new standard although the release date has yet to be announced. The timing of the release will be impacted by how many changes there are to the approved standard and the DIS and any updates that will need to be made to the content. Rest assured we will release it as quickly as possible despite the announced twenty-four month migration schedule per the International Organization for Standardization.
